Jim is a Professor of Environmental Science and has more than 20 years experience in researching challenging issues at the interface of Environmental Science and policy.  He has a career research income of more than £4 million and in 2008 is managing a portfolio of research contacts funded by ESRC, EPSRC, NERC, Defra and the Devolved Administrations, Environment Agency, South African Government, Local Authorities, and the European Union.  He was principal investigator for the Science in Society project on Consultation as Science Communication.

Emma is a senior lecturer in science communication at UWE with an interest in public engagement. Current projects include research into how best to engage environmental consultancies with consultation best practice and running an environmental science news service which seeks to improve policy makers access to the latest research findings. She is also interested in engaging young people with science and is working on a narrative project to engage primary children with chemistry.

Nurul is a Research Fellow at the AQMRC and has over six years experience in both technical and policy aspects of air quality management.  Nurul has managed a number of LAQM projects for UK local authorities.  She was previously working on the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded project looking at the use of complex scientific information within the public participation and consultation aspects of the LAQM process "Consultation as Science Communication".
