UWE alumna Miranda Hart dominates 2011 British Comedy Awards
UWE graduate Miranda Hart said she was "genuinely thrilled" after topping three categories at the British Comedy Awards. She was crowned the British Queen of Comedy in a public vote after winning: Best Female Comedy Actress, Best New TV Comedy for her BBC Two sitcom 'Miranda', and the People's Choice Award.
On her website, Miranda said she was overwhelmed to have won, especially as she was up against the cream of British comedy talent. She thanked everyone who voted for her saying "You have made someone whose dream it was to get into comedy very happy".
Miranda also earned two BAFTA nominations and an RTS award for her sitcom.
Miranda graduated from UWE in the 1990s with a degree in Politics.
