Student Jack Gray receives Alumni award for outstanding contribution to performing arts at UWE

Talented UWE student and performer Jack Gray was delighted to receive the Alumni and Development Office Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Centre of Performing Arts. The prize was presented to Jack at last week's award ceremony held at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol. Jack, a Creative Music Technology student, plays in several UWE bands and groups as well as composing and producing his own music in UWE recording studios.
Jack (pictured right, bottom left) commented on his positive experience at UWE emphasising that the Centre for Performing Arts has enabled him to progress quickly as a performer as well as a music technician. He also stressed that the centre has given him the chance to play in a wider range of productions and ensembles and prepared him to work in a wide range of fields from composition to sound engineering.
Ian Holmes, Director of the Centre for Performing Arts, congratulated Jack and the other prize winners at the Performing Arts Award Ceremony saying; "We are delighted to be able to celebrate the enormous talents of our UWE students and also the diversity of activities available to both students, staff, alumni and community members. We very much look forward to the 2011/12 academic year with particular focus on our production Titanic the Musical, Holst the Planets and David Fanshawe's African Sanctus – all of which will take place in March 2012."
