Student action leads to UWE scholarship for people from conflict countries

Conflict bursary

A charitable project could enable a gifted student to leave dangerous surroundings and study at UWE. The student will be provided with a scholarship of around £45,000 which will cover all costs for their degree including fees, maintenance, flights and orientation.

The talented student will be funded by the conflict zone bursary, a charitable project set up to help people from war torn countries. This project aims to provide comprehensive scholarships for students who are currently living in conflict zone areas to come and study at UWE. The conflict zone bursary fund was set up as a result of student support for people affected by violence in the Gaza strip.

A UWE student and member of the group fundraising commented that "We aspire to champion the real people behind the politics who are in intolerable situations and experiencing unimaginable suffering. The Conflict Zone Bursary fund has been set up in order to offer these people a way out. We hope the project will run annually to create lasting legacy, offering scholarships to students from war torn countries."

The team need to raise £5,000 in donations in order to release additional funding for the Bursary from the University. Every pound you give will therefore bring the team closer to this goal, and a step closer to profoundly transforming lives in the future.
