University Managed Houses

These houses are located in residential areas of Bristol and would suit students who prefer to have greater independence. Under our Property Management Service, we rent houses from private owners which are then rented out by the University to students. If there are any problems with the house the students deal directly with the University, so that we can monitor the situation and ensure all students remain happy and safe in their accommodation.
We currently have approximately 100 bed spaces (25 houses) located in popular student areas close to or within travelling distance to all campuses. All the houses are on or near direct bus routes to each campus and generally accommodate 4 to 6 students. Houses are usually Victorian or more modern terraces typical of the Bristol area.
A typical University house includes:
- own study bedroom, with a single bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk with chair, bookshelves, and wastepaper bin. The rooms are fully carpeted and curtained
- kitchen equipped with a cooker (with grill facility), a fridge/freezer, storage cupboards, work surfaces, and waste bin. An electric kettle, iron and ironing board are provided
- separate living room provided with settee and easy chairs, coffee table and a TV aerial point (TV licensing information). A dining table and chairs will also be provided where they are not in the kitchen
- bathroom comprises a bath/shower, hand basin, toilet and mirror
- fixed form of heating is provided in all rooms, usually gas central heating
- car parking is usually available on street. Cars are left entirely at owners’ risk
- cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mops and buckets etc are provided for student use
- telephone socket is fitted to all properties but students must provide their own phone
