The University of the West of England will award the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology to Richard Noble OBE in recognition of the alignment between the aims and objectives of the Bloodhound Project to inspire and motivate, and the University's own vision to do likewise.

The BLOODHOUND team unveiled the complete life size Show Car, which at 12.8m, is longer than four Minis parked end to end, at the Farnborough International Airshow on Monday 19 July [2010]. The 1:1 replica is the result of three years of aerodynamic study and ten exhaustive design evolutions to perfect the shape and aerodynamic package of the planet's ultimate car.

The rocket scientist who is developing one of the engines for the BLOODHOUND SSC supersonic land speed record attempt will be speaking at the University of the West of England on 17 March. Daniel Jubb will describe his work on BLOODHOUND's hybrid rocket, designed to power the car to speeds of over 1000mph.

- UWE students help design cockpit for world's fastest car - 20/02/2009
World land speed challenger Andy Green, OBE visited the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) on Thursday to try out for the first time a mock-up of the cockpit he will use in his 1000 mph record attempt. The cockpit test rig, designed and built by second-year product design students, will ensure that cockpit components such as chair and controls are in the optimum ergonomic position for the challenge.
